Fontainebleau is naturally known for its imperial castle and its French gardens, as is Vaux-le-Vicomte, located not far from there. This rich heritage will plunge you right into the heart of the history of the Kingdom of France. Follow in the footsteps of the Sun King by visiting the castles of Dampierre and Breteuil or go from one discovery to another in the gardens of the Château de Rambouillet.
By staying in the Chantilly area, you will experience a thousand adventures with your family. Here again, natural surroundings abound in the forests of Chantilly, Compiègne or Ermenonville. The castles (Lamorlaye, Compiègne, Pierrefonds...), abbeys (Royaumont, Chaalis...) and cathedrals (Senlis, Pontoise) bear witness to a land deeply marked by the Middle Ages. The 7,800 hectares of the Domaine de Chantilly with the château and its Musée Condé, the gardens designed by Le Nôtre and the Grandes Écuries are a must. Along the Bends of the Seine, you will come across charming towns and villages and admire the landscapes that have inspired so many artists. Giverny will invite you to Claude Monet's gardens and its many art galleries. You will continue your artistic journey by visiting the Nicolas Poussin Museum in Andelys where you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the river and its valley from the Château de La Roche-Guyon or Château-Gaillard. Beyond the beautiful city of Rouen, you can wander along the bends of Duclair, Jumièges or Villequier, taking in superb abbeys and getting on and off the ferry to change banks. You could even end up in Honfleur if you add a few kilometers to the counter!
